Family STEM Day: 3D Printing and Automobiles

DSC_3701Design, build, tinker, and learn together as you explore the world of automobiles and its relation to science, technology, engineering, and math. On the third Saturday of each month, you and your child, grandchild, or family can spend quality time together exploring activities available in the Education Studio and Family Zone.

FabLab, a local prototyping and technology workshop, will demonstrate how the automotive field is impacted by the use of 3D printers. See a 3D printer in action and experiment with scanning technology. FabLab instructors will also be offering the following classes:

“¢ 11:00am-12:00pm: Introduction to 3D Printing and Modeling
“¢ 2:00-3:00pm: Introduction to 3D Printing and Modeling

Each class can accommodate up to 20 people and no reservations are required. During the class, fablabvisitors will learn how to digitally design an automobile using 123D Design software. These designs may be printed on paper and taken home as a complimentary souvenir. Visitors may also have the option to include a 3D scanned bust of themselves in the driver’s seat. Discounted prices will be available to 3D print their designs at FabLab.

Free, with Museum admission.
