If Cars Could Talk – The Evolution of American Car Design from Harley Earl to Franz von Holzhausen

April 10, 2018 @ 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Harley Earl was the first corporate design leader and by far the most important. As the head of General Motors design from 1927 to 1958, Earl was responsible for the styling of about 55 million cars.

Today, Tesla is looking to become a real volume player in the car business, and their chief designer von Holzhausen is perfectly placed to become one of the most important designers of the next quarter century. Join us as ACM Volunteer, Docent and Museum Educator, Jim Culp, tells the story of the chief American automotive designers and their teams working to create the innovative designs that transform the functionality and appearance of the cars we drive.

There are many chapters to the story of the automobile. If cars could talk, they might just share stories we never imagined. Each month, our speaker will pick a car and offer a fascinating peek into its history. Join us the second Tuesday of each month, and explore the story of cars with Museum curators, staff, or local personalities over lunch.

This event is FREE for ACM Members or included with Museum admission. Bring a lunch, or enjoy a meal from Classics by Pacific Grill.
