SUMMARY:Through the Lens: Cars Defined by an American Century Exhibit Opens to Public
DESCRIPTION:The Through the Lens: Cars Defined by an American Century exhibit is based on the idea that American history and the automobile are inextricably intertwined thus making cars the perfect lens to entertain and educate ACM guests. \nVisitors will be encouraged to consider one vehicle from each decade that defines the history and culture of that period\, in addition\, visitors will be asked to speculate which car will best exemplify the current decade. In some cases\, the cars on display may not have been the most popular or a commercial success\, just indicative of the time. \nACM will “make a case” for each vehicle shown but\, ultimately\, each visitor will decide\, or “vote” for another. If there is an overwhelming response toward a different vehicle than the one on display\, the current vehicle will be replaced with the alternative.

SUMMARY:Spooky Halloween Car on Special Display
DESCRIPTION:On display October 5 through Halloween in the ACM Lobby is a spooky vehicle designed by Mike Fobes – The “Tomb for Two”!  \nJust as the The Munster Koach was the Munster’s family car\, The Dragula was Grandpa Munster’s race car\, (both are famed customizer George Barris creations for the 1960’s TV Show “The Munsters”) the “Tomb for Two” is creator Mike Fobes’ interpretation of the Munsters family sports car. A car Mike says that “Herman and Lilly could drive on a moonlit night together\, past the corn fields\, the crematoriums and the graveyards.” \nThe Tomb for two is powered by a “Meat-Cleaver 302″\, and C4 Transmission. The Custom Coachwork was created from 2 real steel coffins (new\, not used”¦yet). True hot-rod styling\, the car’s mechanical fuel injection system is straight out of the world of dragsters. The chassis is custom-welded utilizing a Model-T suicide front end(what else?).  A Model-T steering wheel and baffled pipe-organ exhausts further set the tone. You will see the passenger coffin has been autographed by George Barris himself who is the creator of the ACM Flintstones FlintMobile. Throughout “Tomb for Two” you will find spider webs\, skulls\, and other creepy details. The skull lamp low beams shine through the mouth of the skulls and the high beams shine through the eyes. \nThe Tomb for Two has been featured in many publications\, including  being featured in “Heavy Metal Affliction” X-Box Forza Motorsports Online. \nAbout the builder: Mike Fobes is a master builder\, fabricator\, and mechanic. He is a married father of two from Auburn\, WA\, who holds seven Master credentials from ASE and has earned more than 50 certifications. He is in the Automotive Hall of Fame in Detroit. \nCurrently\, when he’s not working in his shop he is an instructor at Renton Technical College in Renton\, Washington.

SUMMARY:Call For Cars: Exotics@ACM Submission Deadline
DESCRIPTION:This spring America’s Car Museum will open its latest exhibit Exotics@ACM – Seductive Super Cars. Opening May 5\, Exotics@ACM will focus on the crème de la crème of exotic cars that embody the world’s best designs\, technology and performance. \nThe Exotics@ACM exhibit will frame the story around cars built in the last fifty years with an emphasis on those launched in the 21st Century. While encouraging a dialog with guests as to what cars “fit” in an exotic car exhibit\, the Museum will focus on brand\, design\, technology and performance to guide the exhibit’s visual imagery\, storytelling and vehicle selection. \nPrivate owners wishing to participate in the exhibit have an opportunity to nominate their cars for consideration by the ACM Curation staff. Ultimately\, twenty-five cars will be selected for the first rotation of the year-long exhibit. To keep the exhibit fresh\, subsequent rotations will occur throughout the lifespan of Exotics@ACM. \nIf your car is chosen for the exhibit you will receive a one-year ACM membership with benefits including admission to see your vehicle on display at the Museum. \nTo have your exotic car considered for display\, please send your name\, contact information with a short bio and current photographs to exhibits@americascarmuseum.org by March 15\, 2017. \nDon’t miss the chance to display your exotic in America’s Car Museum’s newest exhibit\, Exotics@ACM – Seductive Supercars\, opening in the popular Cheney Gallery this spring.
