Learn how car advertising and the methods used to sell cars to the public has changed over time. Then\, create your very own car advertisement for a car you find in the Museum\, or a car from your imagination! \nDesign\, build\, tinker and learn together as you explore the world of automobiles and its relation to science\, technology\, engineering\, art and math. On the third Saturday of each month\, you and your child\, grandchild\, or family can spend quality time together exploring activities available in the Education Studio and Family Zone. \nComplimentary with Museum admission.

SUMMARY:STEM Day: Race Car 101
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with Ken Hallis from the Math First Organization\, we will be exploring the world of racing through interactive activities! Museum visitors will have the opportunity to check out some cool race cars\, learn about the role the pit crew plays in racing and use mathematical equations to figure out how tires and other factors affect the performance of race cars. The program will take place throughout the day and is complimentary with Museum admission. \nFour Demonstration topics\n\nRadio Communications\nPick-A-Part Activity\nTire Technology and Track Geometry\nPit Crew Fuel Consumption Exercise\n\nEach participant will receive a Math First Calendar and if they stay for ALL FOUR of the demonstration topics they will receive a TEAM Race t-shirt. \nRadio Communications\nParticipants will each get a radio and head-set to communicate information to the driver through radio transmission. We will discuss the information that is useful to the driver. \nPick-A-Part Activity\nParticipants have an opportunity to learn about the different parts of the race car and what they do. An answer sheet is used to work together as a team to figure out what the parts are. \nTire Technology and Track Geometry\nThe participants learn about sizing of tires and what roles tire pressure has on tires. All participants will measure the circumference of real race car tires just like the pit crews. Also we will discuss the mathematics in race track geometry\, how the tires work through the corners of a track  and the importance of these elements on racing. \nPit Crew Fuel Consumption Exercise\nThis is a real life pit crew demonstration of track fuel consumption and how it affects the outcome of a race.
