Our greatest goal in presenting summer movies at America’s Car Museum is to encourage our community to come together for traditional family friendly entertainment. By offering open air events, free of charge, we provide equity access to new and retro movies, and we’ve put movie selections up for vote to better reflect the interests of our attendees. While there may be a limited number of cars we can park, we ensure access to all comers by removing the inherent restrictions of a ‘drive-in’ movie, reserving areas for those who come by foot or bicycle.
The summer movie series at America’s Car Museum is an opportunity for us to present an event not readily available in our community. The nearest drive-in theater is over 30 miles away, is a pay for event, and does not accommodate those without vehicles. Our tailgate format encourages collaboration between attendees, including open games of games of corn hole and ladder golf and children playing ball. The positive impact of allowing young people from different local neighborhoods to interact is invaluable. During the event we distribute 2 for 1 tickets to the Museum makes us more accessible to those who might not otherwise be able to visit.
