Design, assemble, and test out your own pinewood derby car before racing against other Museum visitors on ACM’s full-length Pinewood Derby track located in the Family Zone. Learn insider tips (and a bit about physics) as you work to make your pinewood car as fast as possible by increasing potential energy and reducing friction. 

We are excited to be able to offer our Family STEAM Day programs and Museum admission free of charge for all participants 18 years of age and under. Free admission is supported by Tacoma Creates grant funding.

Design, build, tinker and learn together as you explore the world of automobiles and its relation to science, technology, engineering, art and math on Family STEAM Day. On the third Saturday of each month, you and your child, grandchild, or family can spend quality time together exploring activities available in the Education Studio and Family Zone.

Family STEAM Days are free for ACM Members and is also included with Museum admission. Museum visitors age 18 and under receive FREE admission on Family STEAM Days.
