Family STEM Day – Automotive Design & Engineering

October 15, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm

Free

Design, build, tinker, and learn together as you explore the world of automobiles and its relation to science, technology, engineering, and math. On the third Saturday of each month, you and your child, grandchild, or family can spend quality time together exploring activities available in the Education Studio and Family Zone.

University of Washington's Formula Motorsports team, comprised of largely engineering students, built this lightweight 355 lb vehicle in only 9 months. Its powerful Yamaha YFZ-450OR engine can produce nearly 60hp. It also features a carbon fiber chassis, aero package, and custom Double A- arm suspension.
