Bavarian Motor Works has been an engineering tour de force since the company’s inception in 1916. BMWs have been competing magnificently in championships dating back to 1924 when the innovative R32 boxer motorcycle won nine consecutive German Championships.
Pre-war successes also included victories with the two-liter 328, arguably one of the most successful sports cars of the 1930s. Its racing accolades include a class win in the celebrated Mille Miglia in 1938 and an overall victory in 1940.
The Heroes of Bavaria – 75 Years of BMW Motorsports Exhibit at America’s Car Museum celebrates the significant history of BMW racing with an exhibit created by the BMW CCA Foundation with an exhibition featuring noteworthy racecars beginning with the vaunted 328.
This exhibit is made possible in collaboration with the BMW CCA Foundation.
