Drive the Blues Away is right around the corner on Friday, April 21! Featuring tastings from craft breweries, distilleries, & wineries, delicious light bites and local live music, you won’t want to miss this fun-filled evening! Still not convinced? Here are six reasons it’ll be a night to remember.
1. Great Local Live Music
Three stellar bands are in attendance at Drive the Blues Away and they’re all representing Washington’s local music scene! Watch, listen and dance as Nite Wave, Roemen and the Whereabouts and Highway 9 take you on a musical journey through the genres. From country to soul to rock “˜n’ roll, there’s something that’ll get your motor running!
To begin the evening, get your boots moving to Highway 9 – a country music trio based out of Mill Creek, WA. Rev your engine and listen to “Let’s Ride,” an anthem dedicated to the open road below.
With inspiration stemming from Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Al Green and Stevie Wonder, the smooth retro soul sound of Roemen and the Whereabouts will have you moving to the beat. The Police is another musical inspiration for the band, as evidenced by their “Roxanne” cover below.
Keep the party going with Nite Wave – a headliner that’s designed to make you dance! With inspiration deriving from Billy Idol, Prince and Duran Duran, this band gives new life to 80’s standards. Check out their catalogue of retro hits in the highlight video below.
2. 12 local craft breweries, wineries and distilleries
Savor local favorites or discover new ones all in one place at Drive the Blues Away! Sip grape-distilled spirits from Glass Vodka, try 5-star Limoncello from Letterpress Distilling or test your Scoville scruples with ghost pepper whiskey from Chamber’s Bay Distillery.
Heritage Distillery has you covered with a variety of delightful flavored vodkas and make your drinks pop with rich fruit liqueurs from Sidetrack Distillery. Looking for something unique? Go savory with Bacon White Whiskey from Sandstone Distilling.
If beer and wine is more your thing, you’re in luck! Discover your new favorite local pint from Seattle-based Ghostfish Brewing Company, or stay in town with Tacoma-based Odd Otter Brewing Company and Dystopian State Brewing Co. Delight in a variety of wines from wineries Damsel Cellars and Beresan Wines.

3. Delectable Light Bites from Café Pacific Catering
No dry pretzels to be seen here! Cleanse your palette with caprese skewers – a fresh mix of mozzarella, tomato, basil, garlic and olive oil. Seafood lovers can savor the lightness of salmon mousse in a cucumber cup and enjoy the bold flavors of red curried shrimp. For land lovers, try the sirloin steak bites with chimichurri sauce. Is your mouth watering yet?
4. Refreshing Signature Drinks
Have you played the beverage field and are ready to settle down with a tall cool drink of choice? Once you’ve had your fill of samples from the breweries and distilleries in attendance try your favorite in a signature mixed drink. Choose from six custom cocktails like the Hibiscus Kiss, Raspberry Beret or White Whiskey Blues. Craft beer and local wine will also be available to enjoy.
5. Summer Drive Series – Convertibles in Route 66
Don’t worry, we didn’t forget about the cars! Opening to the public that evening, attendees get to enjoy a special first look at the refreshed Route 66 exhibit stocked with gorgeous 1950’s-60’s convertibles. The sight of open roads and tops down will certainly help you “Drive the Blues Away!”
